Why East Africa? Home to approximately 217 million citizens, the East African countries of Ethiopia, Kenya and Tanzania are part of one of the fastest growing regions in the world which holds potential for U.S. exporters. With a combined GDP of $253 billion and a growth rate that averaged 7.1 percent in 2019, many U.S. companies look to use these markets as springboards to enter the greater Eastern and Central African regions. Continued push for regional integration via the East African Community and African Continental Free Trade Agreement, coupled with an increase in U.S. Government engagement and financing, U.S. companies are able to pursue many emerging opportunities.
