On the Atlantic coast and bordering Brazil, the Government of Guyana (GoG) envisions becoming a regional transportation hub and a gateway to South America with plans to build and modernize the airports, roads, bridge and ports.
- In 2015, ExxonMobil announced the discovery of oil in commercial quantities and the country began producing oil at the end of 2019.
- The GoG seeks to develop markets for agricultural products, build manufacturing capabilities and modernize information and communication systems.
- Significant opportunities lie in reducing energy costs, currently at $0.32 per kwh to consumers.
- Endowed with plentiful water, precious metals and pristine forests, Guyana was voted the world’s #1 ecotourism destination in 2020.
